The Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA) has been established in the year of 1980 and registered as a non-profit society under the Indian Societies Registration Act, Act XXI of 1860 in 1981. The association was founded and promoted by a group of eminent freedom fighters, social reformers and activists with the ideology of promoting volunteerism, grassroot voluntary action and people-centred development with the twin concept of 'Development through Participation' and 'Development through Sustainability'.
