About OSVSWA

The Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA) has been established in the year of 1980 and registered as a non-profit society under the Indian Societies Registration Act, Act XXI of 1860 in 1981. The association was founded and promoted by a group of eminent freedom fighters, social reformers and activists with the ideology of promoting volunteerism, grassroot voluntary action and people-centred development with the twin concept of 'Development through Participation' and 'Development through Sustainability'. OSVSWA, as a change agent and in the social change process, has been consistently working since its inception with strict adherence to the principle and ideologies as thrust upon by the founders by initiating voluntary and social action based on Gandhian Philosophy of community development. The organization has been efficient in its ideology of dedication and commitment towards the underprivileged, marginalized and excluded sections of rural and tribal population and has been engaged in their empowerment through various social, economic, environmental, educational, infrastructure development, and planning and research programs.
